SEC Newgate UK had a strong brand and no clear digital strategy. I rebuilt the foundations: audience definition, content structure, information architecture, and a modern component system ready to ship.
“Colin supported me and my client from day one. He brought clarity and structure to every stage, and the engagement couldn't have gone better.”
A strong brand with a website that had no clear strategy behind it.
SEC Newgate UK is the UK division of one of the world's largest strategic communications groups, with clients including Royal Mail, DHL, and EDF Energy. Their website had a solid visual identity but had grown without a clear organising principle. Content had accumulated without purpose, navigation did not reflect how prospective clients, journalists or potential hires think about the firm, and there was no strategic foundation guiding what the site was supposed to achieve.
Strategy first, then structure, then design.
I began with a comprehensive audit covering target audiences, content strategy, design and technical implementation. A product workshop then aligned stakeholders around who the site needed to serve and what it needed to achieve. I restructured the full information architecture, removing redundant content and creating dedicated homes for sector expertise and thought leadership. The output was a modern, component-based UI system built on top of the existing brand foundations, fully responsive, documented, and handed directly to the client's development partner.
A site where every page exists for a reason and every audience has a clear path.
SEC Newgate UK now has a website with a strategic foundation that matches the quality of their brand. Every content area serves a defined audience, the navigation reflects how people actually engage with the firm, and the extended design system gave their third-party development team an unambiguous blueprint to build from, protecting design quality through to production.
